Rome is one of the most beloved and popular cities in the world. With the cheap flights to Rome offered today, guests are able to visit at a reduced price. This ancient city offers a variety of attractions to suit any tourist’s interests.

Sistine Chapel

This amazing part of the Vatican Museums is decorated in a fresco style by Renaissance artists including Botticelli, Perugino and Michelangelo. The Sistine Chapel is most noted for Michelangelo’s breathtaking depiction of biblical scenes on the walls and ceiling. He was allowed, by the Pope, to choose the biblical scenes he wished to paint. Some of the scenes he included are the Last Judgment of Christ, Fall of Man, Noah and the Flood and the iconic image of God’s hand reaching out to give life to Adam.

Colosseum

This massive structure is one of the most visited destinations in Italy. The Colosseum, originally named Amphitheatrum Flavium, was used for medieval gladiator contests, battle re-enactments and mythology dramas.

Trevi Fountain

This stunning Baroque fountain, dating back to 1762, is a popular destination for thousands of tourists every day. The fountain’s legend says that a coin tossed over the shoulder and into the fountain will guarantee a return trip to Rome. Tourists toss over 3,000 euros into the fountain each day. With cheap flights to Rome, that return trip is much more affordable.

Piazza di Spagna

This beautiful square hosts several popular tourists destinations such as Fontana della Barcaccia and the Spanish Steps leading up to the Chiesa di Trinità dei Monti. The Spanish Steps, or Scalinata, has 138 steps and is the widest outdoor staircase in Europe.

Pantheon
The Pantheon is the most impressive and well preserved ancient building in Europe. It was built by Hadrian and still retains the original bronze Roman doors. The magnificence of this structure is in its mammoth dimensions. The diameter of the dome atop the building is equal to the height of the building. The Pantheon is used as a church and holds the tombs of prominent Italians including king Vittorio Emanuele II and Raphael.
